4 Press TUNE or TUNE to select a speaker,
then press PRESET or PRESET to adjust the
speaker distance.
5 Repeat Step 4 to adjust the other speakers and
the subwoofer.
6 After you adjust all the speakers, press RETURN
to return to the main menu or press SETUP to
close the menu.
Setting the listening environment (ROOM EQ)
Your receiver can automatically adjust sound
settings for the best listening environment using
information received from the provided
microphone. Using a sequence of test tones, your
receiver can set the speaker size, channel level,
distance, and frequency response for each speaker.
To set the listening environment (ROOM EQ):
1 Make sure that the speakers are connected. For
more information, see “Connecting speakers”
on page 11.
2 Plug the provided microphone into the
SETUP MIC jack on the front of your receiver.
The provided microphone is specially designed
to work with your receiver. Do not connect any
other microphone to this jack.
3 Place the microphone on a flat area in the
listening location. If possible, mount the
microphone on a tripod that positions the
microphone at ear level. Make sure that there
are no obstacles between the receiver and
microphone.
4 Press SETUP. The OSD opens.
5 Press TUNE or TUNE to select SET ROOM
EQ, then press ENTER/MEMO. The SET ROOM EQ
screen opens.
The microphone issues a series of test tones.
When the test tones have completed, the
following screen is displayed, showing the
detected speakers.
6 If the speaker configuration is correct, press
TUNE or TUNE to select OK, then press
ENTER/MEMO.
Or,
If the speaker configuration is not correct, press
TUNE or TUNE to select a speaker, press
PRESET or PRESET to change the setting.
Press TUNE or TUNE to select OK, then
press ENTER/MEMO.
Note
You cannot select a speaker set to NO.
You can set the distance within the range of 0.1
~ 30 feet in 0.1 feet intervals.

Notes
Try to be as quiet as possible during the test
tones.
For correct speaker settings, do not adjust the
volume during the test tones.
If there is too much ambient noise, an error
message is displayed. Check and eliminate
ambient noise, then select RETRY.
If there is problem with a speaker connection,
ERR is displayed. Turn off your receiver, make
sure that all speakers are connected correctly
and securely, then repeat the ROOM EQ setup.
If an operation is not performed for 10 seconds
on the speaker configuration menu in the step
5, the ROOM EQ setup starts automatically.
