8) Enter “VMKernel” in the Network Label field, then check the “Use this port group for VMotion” checkbox.

11) Enter the IP address and Subnet Mask for the VMkernel Port. In this example, 192.168.1.11is used with
a netmask of 255.255.255.0.
12) Click “Next”.
13) Select “Finish” at the Summary window.
14) Repeat steps 1 through 12 for the second host (192.168.1.20).
Configure Datastores
Create Local VMFS Datastores
VMFS datastores serve as repositories for virtual machines. VMFS datastores can be set up on any SCSI-
based storage devices that the host discovers.
Click the Configuration tab, then click “Storage” in the Hardware panel.
1) Click “Datastores”, then click “Add Storage”.
2) Select the Disk/LUN storage type, then click “Next”. Select the first LUN listed for the first host and the
second LUN for the second host.
3) Select a device to use for the datastore, then click “Next”.
4) Click “Next” at the current disk layout screen.
