6.3.2Connecting/PositioningtheNasalCannula

Thecannulacancausetripping,falling,orother
injuryifimproperlypositionedandsecured.To
avoidinjuryordeath:
ThecannulaMUSTberoutedandsecured
properly.
DONOTpositionthecannulaaroundtheneck.
Ensurethepatientcanmovefreelywhile
wearingthecannula.
Avoidpositioningcannulasacrossareasofhigh
foottrafc(i.e.aisles,doorways,hallways,etc.)
WARNING!
RiskofInjuryorDeath
Toavoidchokingand/orstrangulationfromtubing
entanglement:
Keepchildrenandpetsawayfromnasal
cannulaandtubing.
Closesupervisionisnecessarywhenthenasal
cannulaisusedbyimpairedindividualsornear
childrenand/orimpairedindividuals.
WARNING!
RiskofInjuryorDeath
Toreducetheriskofinjuryordeathfromillness:
Replacethenasalcannulaonaregularbasis.
Checkwithyourequipmentprovideror
physiciantodeterminehowoftenthecannula
shouldbereplaced.

Usecrush-proofoxygentubing.
Checkforgasowattheoutletofthecannula.
