–ThecannulaMUSTberoutedandsecured
properly.
–DONOTpositionthecannulaaroundtheneck.
Ensurethepatientcanmovefreelywhile
wearingthecannula.
–Avoidpositioningcannulasacrossareasofhigh
foottrafc(i.e.aisles,doorways,hallways,etc.)

Toavoidchokingand/orstrangulationfromtubing
entanglement:
–Keepchildrenandpetsawayfromnasal
cannulaandtubing.
–Closesupervisionisnecessarywhenthenasal
cannulaisusedbyimpairedindividualsornear
childrenand/orimpairedindividuals.

Toreducetheriskofinjuryordeathfromillness:
–Replacethenasalcannulaonaregularbasis.
Checkwithyourequipmentprovideror

properlyinyournose.Thisiscriticaltothe
effectivenessoftheoxygentherapy.
–DONOTusetubing/cannulalengthexceeding
15m(50ft).
–Usecrush-proofoxygentubing.
–Checkforgasowattheoutletofthecannula.
