(wheelchair,commodeorbed),slightlyraise
thepatientoffthestationaryobjectandcheck
thatallslingattachmentsaresecure.Ifany
attachmentisnotcorrect,lowerthepatient
andcorrecttheproblem,thenraisethepatient
andcheckagain.
–Besuretochecktheslingattachmentseach
timetheslingisremovedandreplacedto
ensurethatitisproperlyattachedbeforethe
patientisremovedfromasurface.

6.2PreparingtoLift

–Ensureequipmentusedwiththeliftisof
adequatestrengthtolifttheload(e.g.sling).
Ensurethatshouldtheequipmentmalfunction
thepersonbeingliftedisnotexposedto
danger.
–Beforepositioningthelegsoftheliftaround
thepatient,makesurethatthepatient’sfeet
areoutofthewayofthefootplate,otherwise
injurymayoccur .
–Adjustmentsforsafetyandcomfortshouldbe
madebeforemovingthepatient.Patient's
armsshouldbeoutsideoftheslingstraps.
1.RefertotheSafetysectionofthemanualandreview
theinformationinSafeLiftingbeforeproceedingfurther .
Observeallwarningsindicated.
2.ThepatientMUSTbeinaseatedpositiontousethe
standassistlift.Ifthepatientisonabed,usethehead
sectionofthebedtogetthepatientuprightthenmove
theirlegsoverthesideofthebed.
