Pool/Spa Heater Installation and Operation Manual Page 31
WARNING
Vent pipes and heater tops get hot! These surfaces
can cause serious burns. Do not touch these sur-
faces while the heater is in operation.
AVERTISSEMENT
deviennent chauds! Ils peuvent causer de graves
brûlures. Ne touchez pas à ces surfaces lorsque
l’appareil est en marche.
CAUTION
Do not use this heater if any part has been under
water. Immediately call a quali ed service techni-
cian to inspect the heater and replace any part of
the control system and any gas control which has
been under water.
ATTENTION
CAUTION
Should overheating occur or the gas supply fail to
shut off, turn off the manual gas control valve to the
heater.
ATTENTION
CAUTION
Do not attempt repairs on the gas controls or appli-
ance. Tampering is dangerous and voids all warran-
ties.
ATTENTION
CAUTION
Keep all objects off the top of the heater. Blocking
air ow could damage the heater and might void the
warranty.
ATTENTION
garantie.
Be sure that there is water in the pool and that the
surface level is above the skimmer or other inlet of the
pool's lter system.
Con rm that pool water is owing normally
through the pool system and equipment. With any new
pool or spa installation, operate the lter pump with
the heater off long enough to completely clean the wa-
ter. This will remove any installation residue from the
water. Clean the lter at the end of this operation be-
fore starting the heater. Start the heater in accordance
with the Operating Instructions section of this manual,
with particular attention to the lighting and shutdown
instructions and temperature control operation.
The heater may not start on the rst try. Air in
the gas line or other start-up situations may cause it
to cycle. It will lock out if ignition is not achieved in
three (3) attempts. (See Section 9.2, Service Codes.)
To reset the LXi heater to provide three (3) additional
attempts, turn off the control and then put it back in
either the Pool or Spa mode.
When the heater starts, immediately feel the
outlet header of the heater to con rm that there is ad-
equate water ow. The header should not be hot. Nor-
mally, water temperature will rise only a few degrees
as it passes through the heater, and a “hot” header or
pipe indicates low water ow.
WARNING
When the heater is red for the rst time, the com-
bustion chamber refractory binder material is driven
out by the heat of the ame. White smoke and/or
sharp odors may be emitted from the vent during
this period. Do not inhale combustion product fumes
at any time, and especially when these fumes are
being emitted. This “burn-in” period will last only a
few minutes.
AVERTISSEMENT
quelques minutes.
When raising the temperature of a cold pool,
program the time clock to turn the pump off 23 hours
after the start time. For example, if the start time is
2:00 PM, then set the stop time at 1:00 PM.. This lets
the lter system and heater operate continuously until
the water reaches the temperature setting on the tem-
perature control. When that happens, the heater will
automatically shut off, but the lter pump will keep
running.
