4 Permanent settings in programming mode
Example:Proceed as follows to make the machine prompt you to
rinse the milk system immediately after preparing a speciality cof-
fee with milk.
Precondition:
‘Please select product:’ is displayed.
 O T Press the P button.
‘Maintenance status (1/5)’
 g T Turn the Rotary Switch until the programme item ‘Machine
settings (3/5)’
is displayed.
T Press the
‘Maintenance settings’ button.
‘Maintenance settings’
T Press the ‘Rinse the milk system’ button.
‘Rinse the milk system’
T Press the ‘Manual immediate’ button.
T Press the
‘Save’ button.
‘Saved’ appears briefly on the display.

 O T Press the P button to exit programming mode.

The harder the water is, the more frequently the GIGA needs to be
descaled. It is therefore important to set the water hardness accu-
rately.
The water hardness can be adjusted on a continuous scale between
1° dH and 30° dH.
E If you are using an external filter cartridge and have activated
it, it is not possible to set the water hardness.
