6 Install the crankcase ventilation filter cover.
7 Install the filter cover capscrews.
8 Tighten the capscrews, starting with the inner-most capscrews
and working outward in a circular manner. Tightening torque 7
Nm (62 in-lb).
9 Install the oil fill cap.
10 Install the crankcase breather tube on the ventilation assem‐
bly.
11 Secure the crankcase breather tube hose clamps.
12 Install and secure any fasteners that attach the tube to the
engine.
13 Connect the battery cables. Refer to the OEM service manual.
14 Operate the engine and check for leaks.
Adjust the overhead set
WARNING
EXPLOSION HAZARD!
Batteries can emit explosive gases.
To reduce the possibility of personal injury, always ventilate the
compartment before servicing the batteries. To reduce the possibil‐
ity of arcing, remove the negative (-) battery cable first and attach
the negative (-) battery cable last.
Remove
1 Disconnect the batteries. See equipment manufacturer serv‐
ice information.
2 Prior to removing any components, use compressed air to
remove any loose debris from around the mounting fasteners
and sealing joints.
CAUTION
Wear appropriate eye and face protection when using compressed
air. Improper use can cause bodily injury from flying debris and dirt.
3 Disconnect the breather tube connection at the back of the
rocker lever cover.
In general, two types of breather tube connections are used at
the rocker lever cover:
A)
A clamping plate and capscrew hold the breather tube
connection to the rocker lever cover. Remove the cap‐
screw and clamping plate to disconnect the breather tube
connection from the rocker lever cover.
B)
One or two capscrews directly mount the breather tube
connection to the rocker lever cover. Remove the cap‐
screws to disconnect the breather tube connection from
the rocker lever cover.
