Provided software and driver installation
NOTE Make sure the instrument is properly connected and configured to a controlling PC
before installation of the software or drivers. Installation of the software or the
drivers will not correct an improperly configured Ethernet.
Installation and configuration
Before installing the software provided with your Model 2701 instrument, make sure the
instrument is properly connected and configured to a controlling PC as described in previous
sections of this manual. Installation of the software and driver will not correct an improperly
configured Ethernet. It is recommended that you use the built-in web page to verify your
system set-up and configuration before installing the start-up software and/or instrument driver
(if the web page displays and is able to control the Model 2701, the Ethernet is functioning
correctly).
Installing the start-up software and driver
To install the start-up software and the instrument driver, insert the software CD provided
with your instrument. The installation utility should run automatically. If it does not start auto
-
matically, navigate and run the install.exe program in the root directory of the CD. Follow the
on-screen prompts to install both the start-up software (TestPoint runtime) and the KE2700
instrument driver.
Although the software provided on the CD is the current version at time of shipment, it is
recommended that you visit the Keithley Web site (
www.keithley.com) to check for available
updates.
Configuring instrument communications
Before you run the start-up software or use the instrument driver, you must configure the
communications with your instrument. Make sure your instrument is properly connected to
your computer and then run the Keithley Configuration Utility to configure communications.
When the configuration utility opens, the configuration wizard will also open. The wizard
allows you to add, modify, and delete instruments from your configuration. It is recommended
that you use the wizard for all routine configuration tasks. The configuration panel provides
extra capability for advance configuration tasks.
Use the following steps to configure communications. The example screen captures shown
illustrate the steps required to configure the software to communicate to a Model 2701 using
Ethernet. Before using this utility, you must have already configured your PC’s network com
-
munications and chosen your instrument's network address as described earlier in this manual.
NOTE Close all applications that use the KE2700 Instrument Driver before using the con-
figuration utility to make changes.
