Programming Guide (SCPI)
SCPI command syntax
The following conventions are used for SCPI command syntax for remote interface programming.
Square brackets ([]) indicate optional keywords or parameters
Braces ({}) enclose parameter choices within a command string
Angle brackets (<>) enclose parameters for which you must specify a value
A vertical bar (|) separates multiple parameters
Commands relevant to J7201A/B/C
[INPut:]ATTenuation/INPut[:ATTenuation]
Sets or returns the attenuation level of the attenuation control unit.
[INPut:]ATTenuation <numeric>[, <float>]
Examples
To set the attenuation level and frequency to 58 dB and 15 GHz:
:ATT 58dB, 15GHz
To query the set attenuation level:
[INPut:]ATTenuation?
Error Messages
If <numeric> is beyond the range specified, a return error value will be clipped to the
minimum or maximum attenuation value. You may encounter the following two error
messages if the value is not within the specified range:
- + 12, “Value clipped to Max”
- + 11, “Value clipped to Min”

Minimum 0 - for both attenuation level and frequency
