Performing a Simple Magnitude Calibration
Compatible Signal Generators:
N5166B (CXG)
N517xB (all EXG)
N518xB (all MXG)
N519xA (all UXG)
This measurement corrects for loss introduced by a 13 dB attenuator in the
signal path. Before beginning this demo, please follow the guidelines detailed
in the “Key Steps for Every RCal Calibration” on page 21.
On the Signal Generator:
Configure the following settings to sweep across the defined measurement
span.
1. Connect the RF output of the signal generator to the RF input of the signal
analyzer with the attenuator in between.
2. Select Preset to set the signal generator to a known state.
3. Set Amptd > -10 dBm.
4. Select Sweep > Sweep > Freq > On to enable frequency sweeping.
5. Select Return> Configure Step Sweep > Freq Start > 3 GHz and set Freq
Stop to 4 GHz.
6. Set # Points > 101.
7. Select More > Step Dwell > 2.00 msec.
8. Set RF Out > On. The RF output state is indicated by the LED next to the
toggle button.
