僅 Multi-Collision Brake is canceled in
the following situations:
- The accelerator pedal is depressed
over a certain level.
- The vehicle stops.
- ESC (Electronic Stability Control) or
electronic devices has malfunc

tioned.
- In a situation system cannot oper -
ate normally.
- Ten seconds have passed since the
brake has been controlled auto
-
matically by Multi-Collision Brake
system.
WARNING
僅 Multi-Collision Brake decreases vehi -
cle speed after a collision and reduces
the risk of a second collision, but it
does not prevent a second collision.
You may drive away from the collision
spot to avoid other dangerous situa
-
tions by depressing the accelerator
pedal.
僅 After the vehicle is stopped by Multi
Collision Brake, the system stops con
-
trolling the brakes.
Depending on the situation, the driver
should depress the brake or the accel
-
erator pedal to prevent a further acci -
dent.

Operation
僅 Press the ESC OFF button to turn VSM
off and the ESC OFF indicator light
( ) is illuminated.
僅 Press the ESC OFF button again to
turn VSM on and the ESC OFF indica

tor light ( ) will go off.

僅 Driving on slippery roads
僅 Grip change of left and right wheels is
detected
Non-operating condition(s)
僅 Driving on a gradient or inclined sur -

僅 Driving in reverse.

VSM malfunction indicator
VSM can be deactivated when a mal -
function has been detected in the Elec -
tronic Power Steering system or VSM
system. If the ESC indicator light ( ) or
EPS warning light ( ) remains on, take
your vehicle to a professional workshop
and have the system checked. Kia rec
