Sprockets are designed to transport the lm continuously. The teeth of the sprocket
engage the perforations of the lm. Both sprockets provide for equal loops before and
after the lm gate.

» The feed sprocket (left gure) pulls the lm from the take-off friction or platter to the
lm gate.
» The bottom sprocket (right gure) pulls the lm out of the sound head and feeds it
to the take-up friction or platter.
» The pad shoe holds the lm on the sprocket.
» The lm stripper prevents broken lm from being wound up around the sprocket.
» With the handle you can open the pad shoe to thread the lm.
