Section 4. Scheduled Maintenance
Scheduled preventive maintenance ensures safe and
reliable operation and extends the life of the transfer
switch. Preventive maintenance includes periodic
testing, cleaning, inspection, and replacement of worn
or missing components.
A local authorized distributor or dealer (authorized
service center) can provide complete preventive
maintenance andservices to keepthe transfer switchin
top condition. Contact a local distributor or dealer for
additional information. See the Service Assistance
sectioninthismanualforhowto locatea localdistributor
or dealer.
Read this entire section carefully before attemptingany
maintenance or service. Unless otherwise specified,
have maintenance or service performed by an
authorized service center that has trained and qualified
personnel who follow all applicable codes and
standards.
Keep records of all maintenance or service.
Replace all barriers and close and lock the enclosure
dooraftermaintenanceorserviceandbeforereapplying
power.
Accidental starting.
Can cause severe injury or death.
Disconnect battery cables before
working on generator set. (Remove
negative (--) lead first when
disconnecting battery. Reconnect
negative (--) lead last when
reconnecting battery.)
WARNING
Disabling the generator set. Accidental starting can
cause severe injury or death. Before working on the
generator set or connected equipment, disable the generator
set as follows: 1) Move the generatorset masterswitch to the
OFF position. 2) Disconnect power to the battery charger.
3) Remove battery cables, negative (--) leadfirst. Reconnect
negative(--)lead lastwhenreconnecting battery. Followthese
precautions to prevent starting of generator set by an
automatic transfer switch, remote start/stop switch, or engine
start command from a remote computer.
