If the fuel screen in the quick release coupling is clogged, change it. Adjust the idle speed if it is not set correctly. If the spark plug is oily or wet, clean and dry it, or replace it if necessary. Also, ensure the plug gap of the spark plug is correctly adjusted to 0.8 mm (0.031 in). Check the wiring harness for frayed short-circuit cables and the stop button for faults. Finally, if there's a malfunction in the electronic fuel injection, read out the fault memory using the KTM diagnostics tool.

Check the exhaust system for damage; change the glass fiber yarn filling of the main silencer if needed. Lastly, adjust the valve clearance if it's too little.

Check the engine oil level; if it's too high, adjust it. If the engine oil is too thin, change the engine oil and the oil filter, and clean the oil screens. Lastly, worn piston or cylinder can also cause high oil consumption, so measure the piston/cylinder mounting clearance.
