LOADING SMALL TOY HAULERS_____________________
Sportsmen and Spree model lines have several small sized Toy
Hauler” units available in current years production. On each toy
hauler, special care and consideration must be observed on how to
load correctly. When loading is done improperly, control of coach
may not be good, causing sway, fish tailing, placing too much weight
on tow vehicle, etc.
For rear cargo toy haulers, you may place 40% of the Cargo Carry
Capacity (CCC) into the rear area. Distribute the balance of the
CCC with 2/3 in front of the axle and 1/3 behind the axle.
For front cargo area units (Spree), you may use the same formula,
however, it will effect your Tongue Weight much more than rear
cargo. Place up to 70% of the CCC in the front cargo and balance
in rear of coach.
The rear bumper on the frame will only carry 100lbs, therefore only the
spare tire carrier, and spare tire can be added to the bumper. Do not add
any other components to the bumper, such as bike racks, generators, cargo
containers, and etc. Such items could cause fatigue and weld stress, which
is not covered under warranty. Any such failures could damage your
property and endanger vehicles following your camper during travel, which
could result in an accident.
However there is an option available to carry bikes and accessories. This
option is an “ Bike Rack/Cargo Carrier “. The bike rack, or cargo carrier,
attaches to a receiver, which is welded onto the frame. Therefore this option
needs to be ordered with unit, before it’s built. This option can not be added
after unit is built. With this option, additional items can be taken along. On
the Travel Trailer units, this receiver will carry a total of 250lbs. However
with this configuration , it was not designed to tow any trailer. The Fifth
Wheel receiver will carry a total of 300lbs, or this receiver can be used to
tow a boat, or a small utility trailer, 3,000lbs gross.
