ENGINE AlRSTARTS (CONT) .
WlNDMlUJNG AlRSTART (FUEL COMPUTER ON)
Do not attempt windmilling airstart with fuel computer
ON unless airspeed is sufficient to maintain a stabUized
Turbine Speed (N2) of 15% minimum and indication of
fan rotation. Starter assist airstarts must be used when
stabUized Turbine Speed (N2) is below 15%.
Affected
Engine:
1. Ensure that aircraft is within REUGHf ENVELOPE as shown in
Figure 3-3, this section.
2. Thrust Lever - CUTOFF. Wait 10 seconds to allow fuel to drain
from engine.
3.
Fuel Supply - Check.
a.
Fuel available from wing tank.
b. FIRE PUlL or ENG FIRE PUlL T-Handle - Push in.
4.
Fuel Panel Switches - As follows:
a. JET PUMP Switch - ON.
b. STANDBY PUMP Switch - ON.
c. CROSSFLOW Valve - CLOSED.
d. FUS TANK ><FER-ALL Switch - OFF.
e. FUS VALVE (if installed) - CLOSED.
5. START -GEN Switch - OFF.
6. Electrical Load - Reduce.
7. NAC HEAT Switch - OFF. -
8.
BLEED AIR Switch - OFF.
9. AIR IGN Switch - ON, check AIR IGN light illuminated.
10. Thrust Lever - IDLE. Check FUEL FLOW indication.
11. Turbine Temp
(ITT) - Check rise within 5 seconds.
12. If light-off has not occurred within 5 seconds after the thrust lever is
placed in IDLE position; SPR Switch - Energize, then release at
300°-400° Turbine Temp (ITT). Check rise within 5 seconds.
13.
AIR IGN Switch - OFF at 45% Turbine Speed (N2). Check AIR
IGN light extinguished.
14.
START -GEN Switch - GEN at idle.
15. Engine Instruments - Normal indications.
16.
STANDBY PUMP Switch - Off.
17. BLEED AIR Switch - ON.
18. NAC HEAT Switch - On as required.
