FUEL LIMITS
FUEL TEMPERATURE
Do not take off with fuels other than JP-4 or equivalent at fuel tempera-
tures below -29°C (-20°F).
Do not take off with fuel temperature lower than -54°C (-65°F).
UNUSABLE FUEL
The fuel remaining in the fuel tanks when the fuel quantity indicator reads
zero is not usable in flight.
FUEL ADDITIVES
ANTI-ICING ADDITIVE
Fuel anti-icing additive meeting the requirements of MIL-I-27686 or
MIL-I-85470 is required. Any approved or emergency fuels not containing
the required anti-icing additive must have it blended during refueling. The
additive concentration, by volume, shall be as follows:
Anti-icing additive conforming to MIL-I-85470 does not
inhibit microbial growth. For microbial protection, it is
recommended that fuel containing either an approved
biocide additive or an anti-icing additive conforming to
MIL-I-27686 be used at least once a week for aircraft in
regular use and whenever a fueled aircraft will be out of
service for a week or more.
Refer to Addendum — FUEL SERVICING for additional information and
the proper anti-icing additive blending procedure.
Lack of anti-icing additive may cause fuel filter icing and
subsequent engine flameout.
BIOCIDE ADDITIVE
BIOBOR JF is approved for use as a biocide additive when premixed in the
fuel supply facility. Concentration is not to exceed 270 ppm. Refer to Ad-
dendum FUEL SERVICING for additional information.
