Ifanadministratorpassword(supervisorpassword)hasbeenset,youwillneedtospecifyitwhenyoustart
ThinkPadSetuptousethesefunctions.
WakeonLAN
WhentheWakeonLANfeatureisenabledonacomputerthatisconnectedtoaLAN,anetworkadministrator
canstartthecomputerremotelyfromamanagementconsole,usingremotenetwork-managementsoftware.
Whenyourcomputerisnotunderthenetworkadministrator'ssystemmanagement,youcandisableWake
onLAN.
ToenableordisableWakeonLAN,dothefollowing:
1.StartThinkPadSetup.
2.SelectCong.TheCongsubmenuisdisplayed.
3.SelectNetwork.TheNetworkitemsubmenuisdisplayed.
4.ForWakeOnLAN,selectoneofthefollowing:ACOnly,ACandBattery,orDisabled.
5.PressF10tosavechangesandexit.
NetworkBootsequence
Whenyourcomputeristurnedonremotely,thesystemwilltrytobootfromthedevicethatisspeciedinthe
NetworkBootsetting,andthenfollowthebootorderlistontheBootmenu.
Todeneasequence,dothefollowing:
1.OnthetheThinkPadSetupprogrammenu,selectBoot.TheBootsubmenuisdisplayed.
2.SelectNetworkBootandpresstheEnterkey.Thebootdevicelistisdisplayed.
3.Selectabootdevicefromthelisttomakeitasthetopbootpriority.
4.PressF10tosavechangesandexit.
Note:Ifyouwanttoinitializethesettingtoreturntothedefaultstartupsequence,pressF9.Thedefault
settingsareautomaticallyreloaded.
Flashupdate
Yournetworkadministratorcanremotelyupdatethesystemprogramsonyourcomputerfromamanagement
console.Thefollowingrequirementsmustbemet:
•YourcomputermustbestartedovertheLAN.
•YourcomputermustbeengagedinaPrebooteXecutionEnvironment.
•Network-managementsoftwaremustbeinstalledontheremoteadministrator'scomputer.
