1. Read the safety information and installation guidelines (see “Safety” on page iii and “Installation
Guidelines” on page 59).
2. Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables (see
“Power off the server” on page 10).
3. If the server is installed in a rack, remove the server from the rack.
4. Remove the top cover (see “Remove the top cover” on page 146).
5. Remove the PCIe expansion tray (see “Remove the PCIe expansion tray” on page 149).
To remove the system board air baffle, complete the following steps:

Step 1. Slightly slide power supply 2 out from the power supply bay (see “Remove a hot-swap power
supply unit” on page 106).
Step 2. Lift the power interposer from the server, and set it aside.

Step 3. Lift the system board air baffle from the server, and set it aside.
Attention: Air baffle is required for airflow that creates proper cooling. Make sure proper air baffle
(s) for system configuration is installed before the power is turned on.
