Winter operation with diesel fuel
At low ambient temperatures, the viscosity of the diesel fuel
can be reduced due to paraffin precipitation. This results in
clogging of the fuel system and operational malfunctions.
To prevent clogging in the fuel system and avoid operational
malfunctions, winter diesel fuel should be used at ambient
temperature of less than 0 °C.
Winter diesel fuel can be used at temperatures to -20 °C and
is offered by the petrol stations in time before the beginning of
the winter season. Deviations are possible during the
transition period and in various countries.
z Petroleum may be added at below -20 °C.
z In case summer diesel fuel is necessary, then petroleum
can be added.
Keep the addition of petroleum as low as possible,
depending on the ambient temperature. Follow the
instructions on the mixing ratio prescribed in the
documentation of the motor manufacturer.
Please note that a continuous addition of petroleum
increases the risk of motor damage.
z Special diesel fuels can be employed for Arctic climate
zones down to -44 °C.
z Normal or super petrol may under no circumstances be
added to the diesel fuel. There is a risk of serious motor
damage.
