6.Defaultdrivingprogramonengineswithelectroniccontrolunits
Generalinformation
Theengineshaveanelectroniccontrolsystemthatmonitorsboththeengineandthecontrolsystemitself
(self-diagnosis).
Assoonasamalfunctionoccurs,themalfunctionisevaluatedandthenoneofthefollowingmeasuresis
instigatedautomatically:
–Outputofafaultmessagewithfaultcode.
–Changeovertosuitablereplacementfunctionforcontinuing(althoughrestricted)operation.Have
malfunctionsremediedbyMANafter-salesimmediately.
–InconjunctionwithMAN-cats,thefaultcodeisoutputdirectly.
7.Assemblyinstructions
Installationofboltsandnuts
–Lightlyoilboltsandnutsonthethreadandthecontactsurfaceofthebolthead.
–RefertothereferencevaluesinworksstandardM3059forscrewconnectionswithoutspeciallyprescribed
tighteningtorques
Installationofmicro-encapsulatedbolts
–ComplywiththeapplicationguidelineinworksstandardMAN222whenusingmicro-encapsulatedbolts.
Reuseofboltsandnuts
–Checkboltheads,threadsandnutsforwearandeaseofmovement,renewifnecessary
–Onlyreuseboltsandnutsiftheyarenotworn!
Installationofpiping
–Donotmechanicallydeformpipeswheninstallingthem–dangeroffracture!
Installationofseals
–OnlyusegenuineMANseals
–Makesurethesurfacestobesealedareundamagedandclean.
–Donotuseadhesivesorsealingcompounds.Ifnecessary,tofacilitateinstallation,usealittlegreaseto
stickthesealtotheparttobemounted.
–Tightentheboltsevenlytothespeciedtighteningtorque.

–OnlyusegenuineMANO-rings
–Makesurethesurfacestobesealedareundamagedandclean.
Installationofcomponents
–Cleancomponentsandsealingsurfacesusingsuitablemeans
–Protectthecleanedsurfacestopreventthemgettingdirtyagain
Engineoverhaul
–Arangeofverydifferentfactorsaffecttheengineservicelife.Itisthereforenotpossibletoindicatethe
exactnumberofoperatinghoursormilesbeforeamajoroverhaulisdue.
–Inouropinion,itisnotappropriatetoopenanengineorperformamajoroverhaulprovidingitstillhasgood
compressionvaluesandthatthefollowingoperatinggureshavenotchangedsignicantlycomparedto
thevaluesmeasuredduringcommissioningandacceptance:
–Boostpressure
–Exhausttemperature
–Coolantandlubricatingoiltemperature
