INTRODUCTION
Fuelsystem
Thefuelsystemconsistsofalow-pressuresystemandahigh-pressuresystem.Thelow-pressuresystem
includesthefuellines,thehandpumpandthefuellters.Theinterfacetothehigh-pressuresystemisthe
high-pressurepump.
High-pressuresystem
Thehigh-pressuresystemconsistsoftheow-rate-controlledhigh-pressurepumpwithange-mountedfuel
pumpandtherailwithrailpressuresensorandpressurelimitingvalve.Solenoidvalve-controlledinjectors
withrailconnectionsandhigh-pressurelineswhichmeetthenecessaryrequirementsarealsoinstalled.
Injectionpressuregenerationandfuelinjectionareseparateinthehigh-pressuresystem.Theinjection
pressureisgeneratedbythehigh-pressurepump,irrespectiveoftheenginespeedandtherequiredinjection
quantity.Theinjectionquantityisavailableintherailforinjectionviatheinjectors.Thehigh-pressurepump
deliveryquantityiscontrolledbyaproportionalvalve.Theinjectionpointandtheinjectionquantityare
calculatedintheenginecontrolunitandimplementedbythesolenoidvalve-controlledinjectors.
Thesolenoidvalve-controlledinjectorsallowmultipleinjections:
1Pilotinjectiontoimprovecombustion,reducecombustionnoiseandreducepeakcombustionpressures.
2Maininjectiontointroducetheenergyfortherequiredenginepoweroutput.
3Postinjectiontoreducethepollutantemissions,mainconstituentNO
x

Alwaysensureabsolutecleanlinessbothinandaroundtheworkingareawhenevercarryingoutworkonthe
highlysensitivehigh-pressuresystem.
Injectors
Theinjectorsarecontrolledbysolenoidvalve.Theyarearrangedverticallyinthecylinderheadandclamped
withapressureangeinthecylinderhead.
Starter
Thestarterisasliding-gearstarter.Whenthestarterisoperated,thepre-engagedstarterguidesthepinion
intotheringgearbymeansofastartersolenoid.Arelayismountedinthestarterforstartercontrol.
Alternator
Acompact,powerful,low-noisealternatorismountedforpowergeneration.Thealternatorisequippedwith
amultifunctioncontroller.Thevoltageiscontrolleddependingonthetemperature,thebatterychargelevel
andthecurrentpowerconsumption.
