The offered buttons of the chess computers vary from emulation to emulation and follow the original devices of
that time.
Control keys of the emulations
MEN - Back to main menu
This key is placed in the bottom left corner of each emulation and returns to the main menu (PLAY AGAINST
COMPUTER / PLAY RETRO CHESS)
SND – Sound
Sound output ON/OFF
SEL – back to the selection screen of the emulations
The button takes you back to the selection screen where you can select a different emulation.
RES – (Reset)
This directly triggers a NEW GAME for many programs. Exception: The Mephisto-emulations in the bottom row.
Here you get to a selection menu (CONT START DELETE...). Navigate with the arrow keys to START, then ENTer,
and start a new game.
Please note that a RESET of the emulation (RES key) takes longer at minimum CPU power than at original speed.
SAV – (save)
Available for the emulations of the first and last line of the selection menu, saves a started game. You can then
CONTINUE using the RES button with the option CONT.
Instructions for emulations
For legal reasons, we are not allowed to provide operating instructions for the original chess computers, since
the copyrights lie with the respective author of the instructions (and not with the author of the actual chess
program). In most cases, however, you can easily find them online or find help with like-minded people in the
forums on the subject of chess computers.
Back to Main Menu
Press the MEN button in the emulations to return to the selection screen.
6. PERFORM RESET
If your system stops booting because, for example, a problem occurred during a system update, you can use the
RESET button on the back to start in a safe mode.
To do this, press the reset button as soon as the control led on the back lights up.
From Safe Mode, you can select and launch the latest version that ran smoothly on your system. From there, you
can, for example, perform a system update again.
