6.1 Wire Swift
The Metallisation Wire Swift is specifically designed to dispense wires
for flame spraying. It provides a flexible and easy to use wire dispensing
system. The Wire Swift boasts the following features:
 Wire tripod base giving stability and strength.
 Ball race thrust bearing for continued free rotation.
 Easily adjusted wire retention arms, which can be removed to carry welding or metal
spraying reels.
 Ability to carry wire coils of diameters from 254mm (10”) id to 762mm (30”) od.
 Wire straightener for stiff materials, such as 3.17mm (1/8”) steel.
 Adjustable brake to prevent over-run of wire.
6.1.1 Operating Instructions
For loose coiled wire and standard 12” Metal Spraying Reels:
 Slacken the thumbscrews on the Wire Retention Locking Bars and insert the Wire
Retention Arms see DIAG 20 (below):
 Slide the assemblies towards the centre of the Swift and load the wire coil centrally
onto the unit.
 Slide the Wire Retention Arms outwards until they rest against the coil, and tighten the
Thumbscrews.
 Twist the Wire Retention Arms outwards over the coil.
 Undo the free end of the wire and pass to the pistol
 After spraying a small amount of wire, adjust the brake knob to allow some drag so
there is no over-run when the pistol is stopped.
