For Mig Welding Reels:
Do not insert the Wire Retention Arms. Move the slides fully inwards.
Place the reel over the Brake Knob on the carrier and twist until the reel drops onto
the four protruding screw heads.
Undo the free end of the wire, and pass to the pistol.
After spraying a small amount of wire, adjust the brake knob to allow some drag so
there is no over-run when the pistol is stopped.
6.1.2 Wire Straightener
Some wires may require straightening. The Metallisation Wire Swift incorporates a Wire
Straightener. See DIAG 21 (below):
Operating the Wire Swift:
Turn the adjusting screw until the moveable roller touches the wire and pushes it into
contact with the two fixed rollers.
To adjust the Wire Straightener, pull through approximately 2ft of wire and examine its
curvature.
If the wire remains curved in the same direction as the coil, screw in the adjuster. If it
has become curved in the opposite direction, screw out the adjuster.
Cut off any lose wire and repeat the process until the wire is straight.
NOTE: The wire straightener is only effective in remover the main curvature of the wire coil. It
will not remove kinks, sharp bends or other such forms of damage.
