1.5 Safety measures
WARNING:
Do not exceed specifications!
Exceeding specifications which are marked on the
actuator label may cause damage to the device and,
in extreme cases, lead to uncontrolled depressuriza-
tion. The consequences are damage to the equipment
and possible injuries to people.
WARNING:
Do not dismantle a pressurized actuator!
Dismantling of a pressurized actuator results in uncon-
trolled depressurization. Do not remove the adjustment
screws at the ends of the actuator while the cylinders
are pressurized. Always close the supply pressure and
depressurize the cylinders before dismantling the ac-
tuator. Failure to conform may lead to injuries and
damage to the device.
WARNING:
Be aware of the cutting action of the valve!
No hands, other body parts, tools or other objects must
be placed in the flow bore of the valve while it is open.
Foreign objects must be prevented from entering the
pipe system. During operation the valve has a cutting
action. Close and detach the air supply to the actuator
during maintenance. Failing to conform may lead to
injuries and damage to the device.
WARNING:
Consider the weights of the actuator and the valve
combination during handling!
The valve combination must not be lifted by the actua-
tor alone, the positioner, the limit switch or the associ-
ated tubing. Attach the lifting belts according to Section
2 when lifting the valve combination. The weights of
the actuators are listed in the tables in Section 9.1. A
drop may result in injuries and equipment damage.
WARNING:
Please observe the instructions given on the warn-
ing labels that are attached to the actuator!
WARNING:
Remove the limit-adjustment screws from the ends
of the spring housing prior to opening the attach-
ment screws!
WARNING:
The actuator must not be operated by cycling the
drive shaft manually!
WARNING:
Do not dismantle a spring package!
The spring package inside a spring housing has been
pre-compressed. The permanently fixed nut of the
spring package must never be opened, nor must the
spring package be dismantled. For EJ actuators the
compression spring, spring retainer, spring plate, dia-
phragm rod, pressure bearing, hexagon nut, base plate
and retainer ring are only supplied as an assembled
package.
