Perform test printing with the test
pattern for checking white ink
It makes easier to check if print the background to the
white ink locations in the pattern.

Press the
(TEST PRINT/CLEANING)
,
and press the key in LOCAL
mode.
• TEST PRINT MENU will be displayed.

Press to select “SpotColor
Check”.

Press the key.
• Print a test pattern in the following orders.
(1) Print the pattern daubed with black.
(2) Return the media automatically and print the
test pattern.

Check the printed test pattern.
• When the result is normal, end the operation.
• When the result is abnormal, perform head
cleaning.（ P. 2 -8 ）
Head Cleaning
About head cleaning
Check the printed test pattern result and perform cleaning
depending on the status.
Select one from the four types below:
NORMAL : When any line is missing
SOFT : When only head wiping is needed (when
lines are bent)
HARD : When poor image quality cannot be
improved even by NORMAL or SOFT
cleaning
ULTRA : When poor image quality cannot be
improved even by HARD cleaning, or when
the color does not improve.
Perform head cleaning depending on
the test printing result
There are four types of head cleaning. Use one by
checking the test pattern.

Press the
(TEST PRINT/CLEANING)
key in LOCAL mode.
• CLEANING MENU will be displayed.

Press to select the cleaning
type.

Press the key.

Press to select the cleaning
head, and press the
(
).
• After selecting the head, press the [FUNC2] key
and put a check in the check box.
The head whose box has been checked will be
cleaned.
• To have both head 1 and head 2 cleaned, put a
check in both their check boxes.

Press the key.

Perform test printing again, and check the
result.
• Repeat the cleaning and the test printing until the
printing result becomes in normal.

When the image quality is not improved after the
head cleaning.
• Clean the wiper and ink cap. ( P.4-6)
• Wash the head nozzle. ( P.4-9)
• Perform nozzle recovery. ( P.4-16)
