ROUTINE MAINTENANCE
ADJUSTING THE BELT TENSION
To check for proper tension of belts, follow the
directions in V-Belt tension gauge.
Throttle engine down and disengage the
clutch.
DANGER/THROWN DEBRIS, CUT,
PINCH HAZARD: Make sure the drum
has come to a complete stop before at-
tempting any maintenance.
CAUTION: Do not use your hand to
check for drum movement.
DANGER/THROWN DEBRIS HAZARD:
Do not use the clutch for adjusting belts
for any reason.
DANGER/THROWN DEBRIS, CUT,
PINCH HAZARD: Shut power unit off
before any maintenance is performed.
To adjust the chipper belt tension, follow
these steps:
Remove the belt shield.
Loosen the engine bolts.
Adjust chipper belt to obtain proper belt
tension by using engine adjusting bolts.
Tighten bolts with proper torque.
CAUTION: Adjust both sides evenly to
ensure proper sheave alignment.
Whenever the belt shield is removed for
service, replace it after you have nished.
Shields are built for your protection. Use
them.
