SAFETY OPERATION
TRANSPORTING THE BRUSH CHIPPER
The towing hitch on your brush chipper can be a ball or pintle hitch. Be sure the tow-
ing vehicle hitch is properly equipped for the hitch on your brush chipper. The towing
vehicle should be capable of handling a minimum of 600# tongue weight.
Check to make sure that the hitch has been properly attached and safety pins in-
stalled.
Check tire pressure to ensure proper ination, which is found on the side of the tire.
Hook up electrical connections and be sure tail lights and turn signals function prop-
erly.
Cradle safety chains under towing hitch and securely attach them to the towing ve-
hicle. Raise tongue jack and swivel to horizontal position.
NOTE: Two lengths of chain must be used. The lengths of chain must be of equal
length and shall be connected from the opposite sides of the trailer tongue to the tow-
ing vehicle and when passing forward to the towing vehicle, shall be crossed under
the trailer tongue in such a manner that they will cradle the trailer coupling and tongue
in the event of separation of the coupling or ball.
CAUTION: To avoid chipper frame damage, always tow chipper with frame level. Ad-
just hitch height if necessary.
Clean infeed of all debris.
Remove wheel blocks and check around machine for any tools or loose items that
might be lost during transport.
Before moving your brush chipper, be sure to check wheel rims for fatigue or loose
