IMAP
•
Username - Depending on the requirements of the email service provider, the user full email address or
username.
•
Password - The password for the email account.
• IMAP server - The domain name of the email service provider’s IMAP server.
• Port - Set the Security type first to enter the typical server port number in this field automatically. Or
enter a different port number if the email service provider requires it.
• Security type - Select the security type required by the email service provider. Select the (Accept all
certificates) option for the security type to accept a server certificate from the IMAP server that is
self-signed, out of date, or in some other way not accepted by the Email application.
• IMAP path prefix- Leave blank unless instructed to enter a specific prefix by the email service
provider.
POP3
• Username - Depending on the requirements of the email service provider, the user full email address
or username.
• Password - The password for the email account.
• POP3 server - The domain name of the email service provider’s POP3 server.
• Port - Set the Security type first to enter the typical server port number in this field automatically. Or
enter a different port number if the email service provider requires it.
• Security type - Select the security type required by the email service provider. Select the (Accept all
certificates) option for the security type to accept a server certificate from the POP3 server that is
self-signed, out of date, or in some other way not accepted by the Email application.
• Delete email from server - Use to configure Email to cause the email service provider to delete from
its server any email deleted in Email, or to never delete email from the server.
Outgoing Server Settings
If using an IMAP or POP3 account for receiving email, it typically uses an SMTP server to send email from that
account.
• SMTP server - The domain name of the email service provider’s SMTP server.
• Port - Set the Security type first to enter the typical server port number in this field automatically. Or
enter a different port number if the email service provider requires it.
• Security type - Select the security type required by the email service provider. Options: None, SSL,
SSl (Accept all certificates), TLS or TLS (Accept all certificates). Select the (Accept all
certificates) option to accept a server certificate from the SMTP server that is self-signed, out of date,
or in some other way not accepted by the Email application.
• Require sign-in - Check this option to enter a username and password for the SMTP server, if the
email service provider requires them to send email.
• Username - Account username on the SMTP server (this may not be the same as the username on
the POP3 or IMAP server for incoming mail). Visible only if Require sign-in is checked.
• Password - Account password on the SMTP server (this may not be the same as the username on
the POP3 or IMAP server for incoming mail). Visible only if Require sign-in is checked.
NOTE Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync accounts do not have separate outgoing server settings.
