Then, the machines display the “Select Course” screen. A course is selected in
the same way as the stage. There are six stages and four courses for the Versus
Race game.
After a course is selected, three items are selected by the slot drawing.
When items are selected by all players, the race starts. The purpose of the game
is to win the race by using the three selected items skillfully.
The winner receives a new item as a prize and the game ends.
Grand Prix mode
When no other players join while the message “Please wait!” is shown on the
screen or when the entry to the Versus Race game is cancelled, the machine
enters a single-player game mode. Then, the namcam2 captures the facial image
of the player.
After an image is captured, the screen displays a message “Select game mode.”
If the player chooses “Grand Prix,” the game starts in the Grand Prix mode.
When the screen displays a message “Which Cup will you challenge?”, the player
enters a choice. When the screen displays “Which Round will you challenge?”,
the player enters a choice. There are six Cup races in the Grand Prix mode. Each
Cup race consists of four rounds and one Challenge game. After a player clears
Round 4, he/she can play a Challenge game. When the player wins the Challenge
game, the player earns the Cup championship. In the initial game, a player can
select only Round 1 of five Cup races. The sixth Cup race can be selected only
when the player wins all other five Cup races.
In the Grand Prix mode, a player uses three preset items in the race.
When items to be used are determined, the race starts. The purpose of the
game is to cross the finish line ahead of all others by using the three selected
items skillfully. When a player wins a race and clears a Round, he/she obtains
a new item.
When a player clears a Round, the screen displays “Do you want to challenge
next round?” If the player chooses “YES” and inserts coins required for a
Continue play, a race starts in the next round. If the player cannot clear this
round, the screen displays “Continue?” When “YES” is selected and the
required number of coins are inserted, a race starts in the same round.
When a player chooses “NO,” the game ends.• When a player wins all six
Cup races, an ending scene is shown on the screen.
Time Attack mode
If a player chooses “Time Attack” on the “Select game mode” screen, a game
starts in the Time Attack mode.
When a course to be played is determined, the race starts. The purpose of the
game in the Time Attack mode is to go around the course a specified number
of times in the shortest time possible. A player can use three Dash Mushroom
items.
