Encoder
The encoder is a solid state device and requires a power supply in order to work. The power supply is
provided by the wheel drive controller. It has two transistor switches that open and close as the magnetic
ring rotates. Each switch is provided a 5 volt supply from the controller, through a resistor. The controller
monitors the voltage between the internal resistor and the encoder switch. When the switch is open, the
input is 5v or “high”. When the switch closes, the input is 0v or “low”.
