Portable and mobile radio equipment should not be
placed closer to the equipment and its electric wiring
than the recommended distance derived from the
equation which is applicable for the transmission
frequency.
Recommended safety distance:
d={ 3,5/V
1
}P
d={ 3,5/E
1
}P for 80MHz to 800 MHz
d={ 7/E
1
}P for 800 MHz to 2.5 GHz,
where P is the nominal capacity of the transmitter in
watts (W) according to the specifications of the
manufacturer of the transmitter and d is the
recommended safety distance in meters (m).
The field strength of stationary radio transmitters
should be lower at all frequencies than the level of
compatibility established by on-site measurements.
Disturbances are possible in the vicinity of equipment
bearing the following symbol:
NOTE 1:
NOTE 2:
The higher frequency range applies at 80 Hz and 800 MHz.
These guidelines may not be applicable in all cases. The propagation of electromagnetic
impulses is affected by the levels of reflection from and absorption by buildings, objects
and persons.
a. The field strengths of stationary transmitters such as basis stations of radio telephones and mobile, land-
based radio equipment, amateur radio transmitters, and AM and FM radio and TV stations cannot be
determined theoretically in advance. In order to identify the electromagnetic environment of stationary
transmitters, a study of the prospective site should be considered. If the field strength measured at the site
where the equipment is to be used exceeds the above-mentioned level of compatibility, the equipment
should be observed during operation in order to ensure that it functions as intended. If unusual operating
phenomena are observed, additional precautions may be required such as rotation of the equipment by
several degrees or moving it to another location.
b. The field strength should be less than 3 V/m at frequencies above the range of 150 kHz to 80 MHz.
