4 Pre-observation/pre-operation
preparation and inspection
Be sure to finish the preparation and inspection work described in this chapter before using the
instrument. At the first sign of any abnormality, immediately stop using the instrument and perform
the required actions as described in "8 Troubleshooting" (P. 47).
Inspections are not only required before use, but should be conducted periodically.
• Make sure the instrument is turned off before performing pre-observation and pre-operation preparation
and inspection.
4.1 Pre-observation preparation
Preparing the power supply
Using the battery
Slide the lock release lever to the side to open the battery cover.
Noting the orientation of the battery, insert it terminals first from above the ribbon.
After inserting the battery correctly, close the cover and slide the lock release lever back into the
lock position.
Remove the instrument from its carrying case.
