2.13 Preparation of the
Remote Control Unit
(MAJ-898)

CAUTION
• Use size AA (R6) manganese or alkaline batteries.
Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced.
Replace only with the same or equivalent type
recommended by the manufacturer.
When you dispose of the battery, you must obey the
law in the relative area or country.
• To protect the remote control unit (MAJ-898) against
damage, keep it away from liquids including water.
• If the remote control unit (MAJ-898) is not to be used
for an extended period, be sure to remove its batteries.
Otherwise, battery fluid leakage may damage the
remote control unit (MAJ-898).
• Should battery fluid leak, remove the leaked batteries,
wipe remaining fluid away from the battery
compartment and insert new batteries.
• Insert the batteries, observing the polarity indicated in
the battery compartment. Otherwise, the remote
control unit (MAJ-898) may not only malfunction but
may also be damaged due to battery fluid leakage.
• When replacing batteries, be always sure to replace
both batteries. Do not mix new and old batteries or
batteries of different types together. Otherwise, the
remote control unit (MAJ-898) may be damaged due
to battery fluid leakage.
Remote control unit (MAJ-898)
The remote control unit (MAJ-898) can be used either as
a wireless remote or wired remote.
Preparation for use as a wireless remote

Slide open the cover on the back of the remote
control unit (MAJ-898).

Insert two “AA”-size batteries as shown in remote
control unit (MAJ-898).

Attach the cover by sliding it.

Insert batteries in the remote control unit (MAJ-
898) as described in “Preparation for use as a
wireless remote.”

Connect a remote cable between the REMOTE 1
terminal of the color video printer (OEP-5) and the
cable connector of the remote control unit (MAJ-
898).

NOTE
If the remote cable is connected to either the REMOTE
1 terminal of this instrument or the cable connector of
the remote control unit (MAJ-898), the remote control
unit (MAJ-898) will not function wirelessly.

Use as a wireless
remote
To remote control this instrument, point
the remote transmitter of the remote
control unit (MAJ-898) at the remote
sensor of this instrument.
The control range is about 3 meters,
provided that there is no obstacle
between the remote and this instrument.
Use as a wired
remote
The wired remote control features
secure operation because control data is
transmitted to the instrument through
the remote cable.
The wired control is possible only from
within the reach of the remote cable.
