Countermeasures Against Messages
Error messages
If an error occurs, the “ALARM” lamp on the front panel
lights in amber and an error message is displayed on the
monitor screen and LCD panel as shown below. “nn” in
the following messages represents a number or symbol.

SET RIBBON SET RIBBON The ink ribbon is not installed. Install the ink ribbon.
SET PAPER
RIBBON REMAIN: nn

The print sheets are not installed. Install print sheets.
The paper tray is not installed. Install the paper tray.
SET RIBBON AND PAPER SET RIBBON
SET PAPER
The ink ribbon and print sheets
are not installed.
Install the ink ribbon and print
sheets.
REMOVE PRINTS REMOVE PRINTS Printed sheets are stuck on the
paper tray.
Remove the print sheets.
REMOVE PAPER TRAY REMOVE PAPER TRAY Paper jam occurred near the
paper tray.
Remove the jammed paper.
RIBBON END RIBBON END The ink ribbon has reached the
end.
Install a new ink ribbon.
CLOSE FRONT DOOR CLOSE
FRONT DOOR
The front door is open. Close the front door.
CHECK RIBBON CHECK RIBBON The installed ink ribbon is not
usable with this instrument.
Install a correct ink ribbon.
CHECK RIBBON nn CHECK RIBBON nn The ink ribbon is torn. Mend the ribbon with plastic
tape as described in “3.2
Installation of the Color Printing
Pack (UPC-55)” in
“INSTRUCTIONS (BASIC).”
Replace the new ink ribbon.
The ink ribbon is slack. Remove slackness from the ink
ribbon, referring to the
instructions given in “3.2
Installation of the Color Printing
Pack (UPC-55)” in
“INSTRUCTIONS (BASIC).”
If the ink ribbon is not cut, contact Olympus.
CHECK PAPER: LOAD nn CHECK PAPER nn LOAD Paper jam inside this instrument. Removed the jammed paper as
described in “4.3 In the Case of a
Paper Jam” in
“INSTRUCTIONS (BASIC).”
CHECK PAPER: EJECT nn CHECK PAPER nn EJECT Paper jam inside this instrument. Removed the jammed paper as
described in “4.3 In the Case of a

MECHA TROUBLE: HEAD nn MECHA TROUBLE nn HEAD Paper jam inside this instrument. Removed the jammed paper as
described in “4.3 In the Case of a
Paper Jam” in
“INSTRUCTIONS (BASIC).”
A trouble other than paper jam
occurred inside this instrument.
Turn this instrument OFF, then
ON again.
