5.4.2 1st Mirror Alignment
After ensuring the laser is well aligned between the laser tube and 1st mirror, check the alignment between the 1st and
2nd mirrors. First, use the direction arrows on the control panel to send the 2nd mirror to the back of the bed along the
Y axis.
Once set, place a piece of tape on the 2nd mirror's frame. DO NOT place the tape directly onto the mirror. Repeat the steps
from §5.4.1. If the laser is not centred on the 2nd mirror, you will need to adjust the 1st mirror's set screws accordingly.
To adjust the mirror, loosen the nut on the screw and then slightly turn the screw either clockwise or anti-clockwise. Each
screw adjusts a different position or angle. Keep track of which screw you are adjusting and the direction of adjustment.
Do not turn the screw more than ¼ turn at a time and, especially at first, test the position of the laser after each adjustment
so that you learn the effect of each change. Test until the beam is well aligned and then retighten the nuts on the screws
once all adjustments are completed.
Next, use the direction arrows on the control panel to send the 2nd mirror to the front of the bed along the Y axis.
Once set, place another piece of tape on the 2nd mirror's frame. DO NOT place the tape directly onto the mirror. Repeat
the steps from §5.4.1 and, if necessary, adjust the set screws on the 1st mirror. Test again until the beam is well aligned
and retighten the nuts on the set screws.
