An Example Transaction
A hotel charges £100 per night for a room.
A customer arrives at the hotel and indicates that they will be staying for
five nights. A Pre-Authorisation is performed for £500.
Before checkout the customer indicates that they will be staying for an
additional two nights. Because this is a significant portion of the original
bill the hotel chooses to perform a top-up authorisation. This is for £200
for the extra two nights.
Whilst at the hotel the customer spends £10 in the bar each night bringing
the total bill to £770
The Completion transaction is performed with the Pre-Authorisation
amount of £700 (the sum total of the previous authorisations) and the au-
thorisation code from the second pre-authorisation. The final amount en-
tered in the transaction is £770.
