7. Long-term shutdown
When expecting the instrument to sit idle for more than ≥10 days, prepare the instrument for a long-term shutdown
by performing a maintenance wash. If planned to be idle for ≥10 days, the instrument and PC are to be powered off.
Preparing sequencing instrument for long-term shutdown
Perform an instrument maintenance wash as described in the section above, titled “Instrument washes”.
Once complete, leave consumables and wash pack loaded on the instrument.
If shutdown is expected to be longer than 10 days, power off the instrument by flipping the power switch
located at the back of the instrument. See “Before you begin” section titled “Powering ON instrument” to
identify power switch location.
Preparing sequencing instrument for use after long-term shutdown
If the sequencing instrument and PC were powered off for long-term shutdown, power on the instrument,
wait 30 seconds, and power on the PC. See “Before you begin” section titled “Powering ON instrument” to
identify power switch location.
Using fresh wash reagents, perform an instrument maintenance wash as described in the section above,
titled “Instrument washes”.
Once the instrument maintenance wash is complete, the instrument is ready to use.
On the main menu
Home
screen, select the hamburger menu at the top right and select “Run management”.
Check the amount of space currently available.
Sequencing runs take a lot of space, and it is recommended to delete runs that have a Copy Status noted as
“Complete” to clear space for the next run.
Do not delete runs that do not have a Copy status as “Complete”, or data will be lost.
