10.2.3 Cleaning the Scanning Backgrounds
1. Enter cleaning mode (page 100), and wipe off any dirt on the scanning backgrounds ( ) with a soft and
dry cloth.
• In cleaning mode, the scanning background rollers (
) rotate a small amount each time the Start/
Stop button ( ) on the unit is pressed. Therefore, you do not need to rotate the rollers with your
finger.
• Wipe off dirt from all areas on the scanning background rollers: the white reference area ( ), black
background area ( ), and white background area ( ).
Notice
• If dirt is difficult to remove, wipe off dirt with roller cleaning paper (page 13), and then wipe the
scanning backgrounds dry with a soft cloth.
Note
• Dirt on the white reference area (
) may affect the quality of scanned images. Dirt on the black
background area ( ) or the white background area ( ) may affect the performance of the
"Automatic Crop" function.
