9. Faults and repair
9.1 Fault list
Problem Cause Solution
Too many bubbles in the
measurement chamber
during sampling
(a) defective O-ring(s) on
the plunger
Remove the plunger and replace the
defective O-rings.
Nothing appears on the
display when you press an
arbitrary button
The battery is discharged Recharge the battery pack.
The pressure or
temperature measurement
indicates HHH or LLL
The measurement is out of
range. LLL indicates the
value is too low. HHH
indicates that the value is
too high.
Pressure sensor:
The pressure calibration is incorrect.
Calibrate the pressure sensor (see
chapter 7).
Temperature sensor:
The electrical connection to the main
electronics has been interrupted. Contact
your local representative or Haffmans
B.V.
The CO
2
value seems
wrong.
Deviation of the pressure
sensor
Calibrate the pressure sensor (see
chapter 7).
Error message Cause Solution
Battery voltage too low
Measurement aborted.
Batteries are discharged Charge the batteries.
Charging voltage too high
Check adapter
The power supply is
supplying an incorrect
voltage level
Check the power supply.
Electrolysis current too high
Measurement aborted
The conductivity of the
liquid in the measurement
chamber is too high
Flush the measurement chamber with
water to remove possible traces of
cleaning agent.
No electrolysis current
measured
Measurement aborted
There is no liquid in the
measurement chamber
Fill the DGM with a sample and try again.
Measurements cannot be
performed while the battery
is being charged.
For safety reasons, you
cannot carry out any CO
2
measurements whilst the
battery pack is being
charged.
First charge the battery and then
disconnect the power supply.
Questionable calibration
Old calibration restored
The measured difference in
calibration pressure is too
low
*The difference between
the measured oxygen
signal at the zero point and
at the high calibration point
is too small.
Check the calibration device to determine
whether the correct pressures were set
during calibration.
* Check if gases with different O
2
concentrations
are being used during calibration. Use a
calibration gas with a higher O
2
content.
