Troubleshooting Section
Test Step 5. Check the Voltage at the ECM
A. Disconnect the P1 connector.
B. Temporarily d
isconnect the wire from the P1
connector that supplies the suspect lamp.
C. Fabricate th
e jumper wire with a suitable pin for
the P1 connector.
D. Install one
end of the jumper wire into the P1
connector that supplies the suspect lamp. Connect
a test lamp between the battery+ and the jumper
wire.
E. Reinstall the P1 connector to the ECM.
F. Turn the keyswitch to the ON position. Use the
electronic service tool to select the override
function i
n order to switch individual lamps ON
and OFF.
Note: The
“Override” function is contained in the
“Diagnostics” menu of the electronic service tool.
Expected
Result:
The lamp should illuminate.
Results:
OK The E
CM is operating correctly. There is a
fault in the wiring or the lamp. Repair the wiring
or the lamp, as required. Verify that the repair
elimin
ates the fault.
STOP.
Not OK There is a suspected fault in the ECM.
Repai
r: Perform the following procedure:
1. Make sure that the latest ash le for the
appl
ication is installed in the ECM. Refer to
Troubleshooting, “Flash Programming”.
2. Cont
act the Technical Help Desk.
Note: This consultation can greatly reduce the repair
tim
e.
3. If the Technical Help Desk recommends the
use
of a test ECM, install a test ECM. Refer to
Troubleshooting, “Replacing the ECM”.
4. If
the fault is resolved with the test ECM,
reconnect the suspect ECM.
5. If
the fault returns with the suspect ECM,
replace the ECM.

Injecto r Data Incorrect - Test
System Operation Description:
Use this procedure under the following situation:
Use this pro c
edure for any of the following diagnostic
codes:
0001-02 Cyl
inder #1 Injector erratic, intermittent,
or incorrect
0002-02 Cy
linder #2 Injector erratic, intermittent,
or incorrect
0003-02 Cy
linder #3 Injector erratic, intermittent,
or incorrect
0004-02 C
ylinder #4 Injector erratic, intermittent,
or incorrect
0005-02 C
ylinder #5 Injector erratic, intermittent,
or incorrect
0006-02
Cylinder #6 Injector erratic, intermittent,
or incorrect
The foll
owing background information is related
to this procedure:
The eng
ine has electronic unit injectors that are
electronically controlled by the Electronic Control
Module (ECM). The ECM sends a 70 V pulse to each
injec
tor solenoid. The pulse is sent at the correct time
and for the correct duration for a given engine load
and engine speed. Use this procedure to identify the
cause
of the diagnostic code. Use this procedure to
repair the system.
If an
injector is replaced, then the correct injector
trim les must be programmed into the ECM. The
injector trim les allow each individual injector to be
ne-
tuned for optimum performance. The ECM will
generate the following diagnostic code if the injector
trim les are not programmed:
0268-02 Programmed Parameter Fault erratic,
intermittent, or incorrect
Refer to Troubleshooting, “Injector Trim File” for
further information.
If the ECM is replaced then the replacement
ECM must be correctly programmed. Refer to
Tr
oubleshooting, “Replacing the ECM” for further
information.
