Troubleshooting Section
Troubleshooting:
Perform the following diagnostic procedure: “Engine
Pressure Sensor Open or Short Circuit - Test”
Results:
OK STOP.

CID 0168 FMI
00
Conditions Which Generate This Code:
The ECM det
ects the following conditions:
The battery voltage to the ECM exceeds 32 VDC
for more th
an 0.5 seconds.
The keyswitch is in the ON mode.
The engine is not cranking.
The engi
ne is running for more than 30 seconds.
System Response:
The ECM will log the diagnostic code. If equipped,
the diagnostic lamp may come on.
Possible Performance Effect:
None
Troubleshooting:
This diagnostic code will detect excessively high
voltage in the battery circuit to the Electronic Control
Modul
e (ECM) while the engine is running.
Perform the following diagnostic procedure: “Ignition
Keys
witch Circuit and Battery Supply Circuit - Test”
Results:
OK STOP.
i04010671
CID 0168 FMI 01
Conditions Which Generate This Code:
The ECM detects the following conditions:
T
he keyswitch is in the ON position.
The engine is not cranking.
The engine is running for more than 3 seconds.
The battery vo
ltage to the ECM is below 9 VDC for
more than 0.5 seconds.
System Respo
nse:
If equipped, the diagnostic lamp may come on. The
ECM will nor
mally log the diagnostic code. If battery
voltage disappears without returning, the ECM will
not log this diagnostic code and the engine will shut
down.
The engine will derate 100 percent.
Possible Pe rformance Effect:
The engine
may experience changes in the engine
rpm, and intermittent engine shutdowns or complete
engine shutdowns.
Troubleshooting:
This diag
nostic code will detect low voltage in the
battery circuit for the Electronic Control Module
(ECM) while the engine is running.
Perform the following diagnostic procedure: Ignition
Keyswitch Circuit and Battery Supply Circuit - Test”
Results:
OK STO
P.

Conditions Which Gen erate This Code:
The E
CM detects the following conditions:
Three voltage readings that are below 6 VDC in a
peri
od of 7 seconds will be detected by the ECM.
Thevoltagemustincreasetomorethan9VDC.
The
keyswitch is in the ON position.
The engine is running.
The engine is not cranking.
Sy
stem Response:
The diagnostic code will normally be logged. If the
ba
ttery voltage disappears without returning, the
ECM will not log this diagnostic code and the engine
will shut down. This will be dependent on the length
o
f time of the occurrence of the fault.
