following:
1.Slowdowncarefully.
Herearesomethingsyoucando
toassistinslowingthevehicle:
°Downshift-Puttingthe
transmissionintoalowergear
willhelpslowthevehicle.
°Pumpthebrakes-Pumping
thebrakepedalmaygenerate
enoughhydraulicpressureto
stopthevehicle.
°Usetheparkingbrake-The
parkingoremergencybrake
isseparatefromthehydraulic
system.Thereforeitcanbe
usedtoslowthevehicle.
2.Moveasafedistanceofftheroad
andstop.
3.Settheparkingbrake.
4.Turnontheemergencyasher
anduseotherwarningdevicesto
alertothermotorists.
WetorOverheatedBrakes
WetBrakes
Ifyouhavebeendrivinginheavyrain
ordeepstandingwater,yourbrakes
willgetwet.Waterinthebrakes
cancausethemtobeweak,toapply
unevenly,ortograb.Theseconditions
cancausealackofbrakingpower,
wheellockups,orpullingofthevehicle
toonesideortheother.
Avoiddrivingthroughdeeppuddles
orowingwaterifpossible.Ifnot
possible,youshouldtothefollowing:
Slowdown.
Placetransmissioninlowergear.
Gentlypressonthebrakepedal.
Increaseenginespeedwhile
keepinglightpressureonthe
brakepedalforashortdistanceto
dryoutthebrakelinings.
