onyourvehicle.TheAnti-Lock
BrakeSystem(ABS)iscalibrated
forthespecictirerevolutionsper
mile.Useofatireand/orwheelsize
differentfromthatoriginallyinstalled
onyourvehiclemaycausetheABS
systemtonotfunctionduringahard
brakingevent.Thiscouldcausean
accidentorseriouspersonalinjury.
ConsultwithyourPeterbiltdealer
beforeusingadifferenttireand/or
wheelsizethanwasoriginallyin-
stalledonyourvehicle.
ParkingBrakeBurnishing
Thisprocedureisrecommended
fornewvehicleswherelesslever
actuationforceisrequired.This
procedureismandatorywheneverthe
drivelinebrakeshoesorbrakedrum
arereplaced.
WARNING!
Ifanewdrumornewbrakeshoes
areinstalled,thedrivelinebrake
mustbeburnished.Failuretoprop-
erlyburnishtheparkingbrakebefore
puttingitinservicecouldresultin
aninoperativeparkingbrake,pos-
siblevehiclerollaway,andserious
personalinjuryordamagetothe
vehicle.
1.Drivethevehicleat15mph(24
km/h)inalowgear(rstorsecond)
onadry,hardroadsurface.
2.Applytheparkingbrakeleverwith
amoderateforce(approximately
40pounds)untilthevehicleis
broughttoastop.Donotallowthe
wheelstolockup.
3.Afterstopping,releasetheparking
brakeleveranddrivethevehicle
at20mph(32km/h)inalowgear
forapproximately2.5miles,to
allowthebrakedrumtocool.
4.Repeatsteps1,2,and3above
untilatotalof10stopshavebeen
completed.
5.Adjusttheparkingbrakelever.See
