If the pump is not running or appears to be seized, it may be freed by tapping it with a
small screwdriver or on the bench or by reversing the voltage to run it backwards.
3.
Run alcohol through the pump for a minute or two to ensure that any material is removed.
When finished, run the pump in air for at least 15 minutes to allow any residual alcohol to
eVaporate. Ideally, let the pumps dry outside of the EGM-4 overnight. If the pumps are
reconnected prematurely, the absorber chemical (soda lime) will be exhausted quicker
than usual.
In-Line Filter Assembly (Hydrophobic)
The In-Line Filter Assembly (Hydrophobic) is commonly used with the EGM-4 especially when
used with the SRC-1 Soil Respiration Chamber and CPY-2/CPY-4/CPY-3 Canopy
Assimilation Chambers. It is fitted with a 3 micron PTFE hydrophobic filter and “O” ring
ensuring proper seal. It is very important that this be checked frequently for signs of dirt/dust
and water. The entire assembly should be replaced as necessary.
Part No. 10045-1 Filter Assembly (Hydrophobic)
