Procedure 7.13 - Replacing a Stairarm (C556i Navy, only)
1. Remove the rear cover and disconnect the red battery lead from terminal M6 of the lower
PCA.
2. Remove the stairarm pedal per Procedure 7.11.

3. Remove the plastic cap from the stairarm end of the handlebar linkage with a flat bladed
screwdriver. Remove the bolt that fastens the handlebar linkage to the stairarm. There are
two washers and a spacer inside the handlebar linkage, similar to those shown in Diagram
7.10. Slide the large plastic spacer off of the stairarm peg to which the handlebar linkage
was mounted.
4. Remove the two bolts that fasten the hook to the stairarm and remove the hook form the
stairarm.
5. Remove the retaining clip that fastens the stairarm to the crankarm. Refer to Diagram 7.4.
6. Remove the stairarm from the EFX and slide the wheel assembly off of the stairarm.
7. Slide the wheel assembly onto the replacement stairarm.
8. Slide the replacement stairarm on onto the crankarm and place the other end of the stairarm
on the ramp. Fasten the stairarm to the crankarm with the retaining clip removed in step 5.
9. Set the hook at its mounting position and fasten it to the stairarm with the hardware removed
in step 4. Torque the hook mounting bolts to 70 inch pounds.
