CHAPTER 3 – PLATFORM
INSTALLATION
This chapter describes the installation procedure for the APSolute Vision (server appliance) platform.
APSolute Vision server can run as a standalone physical appliance or as a virtual appliance (VA).

Note: When you purchase an APSolute Vision physical appliance or an APSolute Vision VA you can
manage up to two physical and ten virtual devices free of charge. Managing additional devices
requires purchasing additional Right-To-Use (RTU) licenses. Each RTU license allows an additional six
physical and 60 virtual devices.
Using APSolute Vision (either VA or physical) with APSolute Vision Reporter, requires the APSolute
Vision Reporter license.
Using the Device Performance Monitoring (DPM) feature requires a Device Performance Manager
license.
Installing APSolute Vision Physical Appliance
This section describes the procedure for installing the APSolute Vision server using a USB flash drive
or any device that uses the USB mass storage standard.
Preparing the Bootable USB Flash Drive
This section describes the procedure for preparing the USB flash drive for versions 3.0 and later.
To install APSolute Vision server using a USB flash drive, you need to have a USB flash drive pre-
installed with the required APSolute Vision version, or to prepare the USB flash drive yourself from
the ISO file using USB preparation utility.
To prepare the USB flash drive, you need the following:
• A PC running Windows 32/64-bit XP, Vista, or 7
• The ISO file: APSoluteVision-<Version>-<Build>-x86_64.iso
• The USB-flash-drive-preparation (boot) utility file:
Vision-<version>-usb-boot-<build>.tar.gz
Notes
•
The procedure is supported on a Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7 platform.
• If you are using Windows Vista or Windows 7, you must have Administrator credentials.
• The iso file and the USB-flash-drive-preparation utility file can be downloaded from the support
matrix on radware.com.
