The ODUs should be accessed only by skilled persons. Check the voltage on the
antenna connector before access. Hazardous voltage of 56VDC may appear on the
antenna metal connector in case of a single fault condition.
External, Non‐Integrated Antenna
To connect an external, nonintegrated antenna to the RADWIN 2000 Alpha EMB ODU:
1. Connect the cables to the ODU.
2. Seal the cables using ScotchTM 23 splicing tape or similar.
3. Mount an external, nonintegrated antenna using the standard mounting kit (see
Various ODUs Mounting Options on a Standard Mounting Kit ).
4. Connect the cables to the external, nonintegrated antenna.
5. Seal the connectors on the external, nonintegrated antenna (see Waterproofing ).
Reconfigure the ODU as having an external antenna (see the RADWIN 5000
Configuration Guide).
You may need to realign the antenna.
Always use the same connection scheme throughout the sector. For example,
always connect antenna V to radio ANT 1 and antenna H to radio ANT 2.
3.11.3 Connecting Alpha Connectorized ODUs to an External Antenna
1. Mount the Alpha Connectorized ODU using worm drive clamps (see Mounting Alpha
Connectorized ODUs ).
2. Connect the V or H antenna connector to either ANT 1 or ANT 2 radio connector.
Always use the same connection scheme throughout the sector. For example, always
connect antenna V to radio ANT 1 and antenna H to radio ANT 2.
