8.3 Notes on water treatment
If the water quality is not suitable for the device, water treatment is required.
Observe the following notes:
n
Treated water with a hardness of less than 5°dH can have an aggressive
and corrosive effect and shorten the service life of the device. Do not use
treated water with a hardness of less than 5°dH.
n
Observe the country-specific regulations regarding water and wastewater
connections, in particular also regarding the installation of water extraction
points.
n
Check the chloride concentration (Cl
-
), chlorination (Cl
2
), conductivity and
water hardness with your local water supplier.
n
When connecting the iCombi Pro to water with less than 7°dH: When the
self test is started, a query is made as to which water hardness the device
is connected to. In this case, select the point water hardness below 7°dH.
n
A water connection without additional filters and water treatment is possi-
ble in most cases.
n
If critical water conditions prevail, filtration and/or water treatment is
necessary.
8.4 Selection of the water filter
If critical water conditions prevail, filtration and/or water treatment is neces-
sary. Observe the following notes when making your selection:
(A) Fine filter
If the water is contaminated by sand, iron particles or suspended particles, we
recommend fine filters with 5 – 15 µm [0.0002 – 0.0006 inch] filter fineness.
(B) Activated carbon filter
In the case of strong chlorination (Cl
2
) of the water above 0.2 mg/l (corre-
sponds to 0.2 ppm), an activated carbon filter must be installed upstream. In-
formation about chlorination (Cl
2
) can be obtained from the local water supply
company.
(C) Reverse osmosis system
If the chloride concentration (Cl
-
) is above 80 mg/l [80 ppm], a reverse osmo-
sis system must be installed due to the risk of corrosion. Information about the
chloride concentration (Cl
-
) can be obtained from the local water supply com-
pany.
NOTE
Malfunction due to falling below the minimum conductivity value
Make sure that the minimum conductivity of the water is 50 μS/cm [32
ppm TDS].
